Health and Wellness Committee 2020-2021!
Hello Iowa State students, my name is Sophie Young and I will be serving as the Director of Health and Wellness for the 2020-2021 school year. I am looking to craft a committee of students who are interested in improving health resources and activities for students on campus. I am particularly passionate about mental health so I am hoping to focus on improving the conversation and climate at Iowa State surrounding what mental health means to us as college students. I encourage students of all backgrounds and majors to apply, as I am really hoping for a diverse team with a variety of input! This year, our committee will focus on the following goals:
- Providing factual information to students regarding public health topics such as sexually-transmitted diseases, COVID-19, mental health issues, and more
- Demystifying mental health services for all students on campus via social media and other forms of communication
- Working to develop a conversation among students about how racial justice and mental health are intertwined, as well as combat racial inequality in health care on campus
