I am an incoming Junior studying Microbiology with a minor in Global Health. I am passionate about mental health and public health, and am planning on pursuing a Master’s in Public Health following graduation.
Improve accessibility for students to reach mental health services, increase campus-wide awareness of various important topics including tobacco use, vaccination, and other public health issues. Make Iowa State students feel supported in their mental and physical health. One of my biggest initiatives is to “demystify” counseling services and increase use of those services by students who might not otherwise think to talk to someone. Furthermore, bringing more students into the area of group-based services to connect students with other people going through similar struggles by making group sessions more accessible to students than in previous years is a main goal of mine as Director of Health and Wellness. I would also like to encourage students to take care of their physical health via STD screenings and telehealth services , exercise classes, and self-care initiatives such as therapy dogs and meditation.
