This is my third year of involvement in Student Government, and the second year that I have had the privilege to serve as one of your Senators. As a native of Ames, I realized that there was a disconnect between the campus and residential communities; to that end, I created an event titled "I Love Ames" that aimed to bring our two communities together and experience what the other one has to offer. The incarnation of our event this year saw 20 student organizations coming down to Main Street to display their talents in collaboration with the Main Street Farmer's Market, and we aim to see this event grow and evolve until it becomes a celebration that unites our fair city. I also serve as the chair of the City of Ames Campus and Community Commission, which provides a forum for issues of mutual interest to the City, Iowa State University, and Student Government; I am the youngest commission chair in the 108-year history of the City.
Internally, I am a specialist in Student Government law as a second-year member of the Committee on Rules, and I have aided numerous students and student organizations navigate Student Government procedures, including election and funding mechanisms. I am also the Senate representative on the Special Student Fee Committee, which sets the mandatory fees for the student body.
