Apparently, when I was four years old, on Earth Day, I made my grandma take me to a nearby parking lot so we could pick up garbage. I have no recollection of that event, and I don't remember when my passion for the environment began. I didn't even realize I could make a career out of my passion for the environment until I was in my junior year of high school, and I hit the ground running as soon as I did. I am very interested in urban agriculture and hope to one day be the sustainability director for a city or university! I am a sophomore at Iowa State and currently work as an intern in the Office of Sustainability. I play the flute and piccolo, I love to garden, and my three favorite books are Pride and Prejudice, To Kill A Mockingbird, and 1984.
I want to continue the Sustainability Committee's momentum- I was an at-large member during the 2020-2021 school year and we made some fantastic progress on some really interesting projects! I also want to work with the Diversity & Inclusion Committee to make sure that we are addressing environmental justice through our work and educating all members of the committee on similar matters, as well as volunteer opportunities, job/internship openings, and fun sustainable events around Ames!
