Hello! My name is Kate Alucard, and I am a DVM-MPH candidate at Iowa State University. I am originally from Southern California, and attended the University of Arizona for my undergraduate degree where I received a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science, minoring in Biochemistry and Special Education Rehabilitation Programs with an emphasis in Deaf Studies. I am fairly new to the Midwest United States, but I'm committed to becoming more involved not only in my local community, but also my Iowa State University community.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am a very active advocate for equality and equity and am committed to increasing representation, diversity, and support to groups of people who may not otherwise have it. I come from a background with significant privilege, and it is my duty as a representative in ISU StuGov to use my position to advocate for others who may not have the opportunities that I have. I am always willing to collaborate with people of a variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and convictions, and look forward to this upcoming year in Student Government.
In short, my main focuses are increasing inclusion, representation, and diversity of traditionally marginalized groups. I also am interested in sustainability efforts in order to make ISU more environmentally friendly.
