The Green Initiatives Fund is a fund in which student-led organizations around Iowa State and Ames can apply to receive money for their projects, events, and initiatives that promote environmental, economic, or social sustainability.
A total of $15,000 is allocated to the Green Initiatives Fund every year and it is the responsibility of the Sustainability Committee of Student Government to review applications that are submitted and decide how these funds should be allocated. This committee consists of two Senators with 10 at-large members total. Committee members vote on proposals as they are received.
Applications that are received go through the following process:
- Seen by Sustainability Committee
- Voted on by Sustainability Committee
- Voted on by Finance Committee (if it is passed by Sustainability Committee)
And that’s it! 🙂
Statement from the Committee Chair:
My goal this year for the Green Initiatives Fund is to distribute all $15,000 in the fund! There so many brilliant people at ISU with amazing ideas!
I hope that this fund will make it possible for students to see their sustainability projects to fruition, and in doing so, contribute to making the Iowa State University and Ames community a better, more environmentally-friendly place to be!
